The Real Estate Games

On June 14, 2007, the 18th annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Real Estate Games took place at American University in Washington, DC. More than 1,300 people from the commercial real estate community participated in an all-day Olympic-style sporting event. Last year, through the support of the team athletes, volunteers and sponsors, the event raised $425,000 for diabetes research.

A record-setting level of over $3.2 million has been raised since the event's inception 18 years ago.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is dedicated to funding research to find a cure for juvenile diabetes, which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. JDRF’s sole function is to support research to find a cure for juvenile diabetes soon. In a typical year, more than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education.

Event sponsors, team participation, ad sales, in-kind donations and proceeds from the auctions raise funds that keep the overhead and costs down to less than 10%. The Games will continue until a cure is found.
